Day Four of our Journey

Day Four and all is going well!  Yesterday was a holiday in our state celebrating The Epiphany, so we weren't able to do many tasks since many places are closed.  The last few days we have spent exploring our new town and house, along with old town Heidelberg.  The girls love the new house, especially Kayla, who runs from room to room pushing buttons!  There are buttons everwhere- for blinds, lights, and even toilets.

Today the girls and I will become official German residents while Nick is back to work. I ironed his shirt last night and I was told that is the sign of a true German housewife. Yikes.

Brenna has picked up some of the language already and it amazes us!  She has helped me try to understand language at the laundrymat and for a tram ticket!  She has also learned the art of "photo bombing" as you can see below (where her forehead made it into the photo of the Cathedral!).

Yesterday we went to Speyer to visit the beautiful, old Dom (Cathedral) and Christmas market.  We had lunch a a traditional German restaurant with a co-worker of Nick's, along with his family.  It was such a fun day!  I even tried some Gluhwein (hot wine)! Photos below.

We are still waiting for our dog Benji to arrive!  He is still stuck in the blizzard in Chicago!  We are thinking of our family and friends in Indiana...hope you are staying safe and warm!
